Rescue Me ID: 16-05-02-00353Halo (male)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Courtesy post for Tri County Animal Shelter--Remember Halo? The dog that was once very famous on social media as the 'mattress' dog. He had been found wandering a busy highway and his finders took him home, put him the back yard with only an old mattress to call his own. Without the proper shelter, the finders decided to relinquish Halo to animal control when they came knocking on their door. Halo has been sitting in the shelter for two long months, waiting for his owners to come get him to no avail. Halo has also been sent out week after week on the shelter's 'at risk' list with no luck at finding his forever home. So here I am, once ... (Read More)again, begging you to help this sweet boy find his second chance at happiness. Halo is a 1 1/2 year old male, Pit mix. Since being in the shelter we have noticed he can be shy at times, but is willing to give you a chance to show him you care. He loves to cuddle, lay close to you, and seems to like everyone he meets. We brought Halo out to an adoption event hoping that his personality would really show through since he seems to shut down in the shelter environment. At the event, he wanted to be friends with everyone that came in! He loved laying down right next to us. This laid back guy would love to spend time on the couch watching a movie or lounging in the sun on a nice warm day. Either way, I believe his calm personality would do well in any home. If you are interested in Halo, please contact Rescue Angels! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-04-17-00561Jax (male)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected,
 Aggressive, Fearful/Anxious

I've had Jax since a pup. He's a great dog and growing up he had no issues. I had a room mate a few years ago that had picked up my dog's kennel, with him in it, threw it in the air, flipped it around, and slammed it back on the ground. Since then, his trust for humans (applies to anyone that he's met since the abuse), is very little to none. He requires a certain introduction process for him to be okay with new people, but it does take time and patience and for the person to in no way antagonize or excite him . He's a bit easier around females, males seem to be harder for him to come around to. He doesn't do well in large groups. I am and ... (Read More)have been very capable of upholding his needs, but I recently moved and my room mate was successfully introduced to Jax, but now is saying she no longer feels comfortable with him in the house. He did nothing wrong, but apparently she said he growled at her twice. He regularly playfully growls to get attention, but I was not present for this, so I can't vouch for what happened. He is classified in Montgomery County as a potentially dangerous dog. He's had 2 bite incidents, 1 of which is fabricated, but the other one holds merit although I do not believe he shouldve been held accountable because a person entered my home after being told not to because there was a dog that didnt take well to strangers. Regardless, this person decided to completely ignore it, and it ended with two people having to go to the hospital with moderate but not severe injuries. I would do anything to be able to keep him, but I don't have the financials to relocate since I literally just moved. Finding the home I'm at now was even a struggle. Not many people are willing to give us a chance so I'm now backed into a corner with very few exits. I'm fearful that he'll be put down because of his special needs and the incapability I foresee for most people to not be able to properly care for him. If there is anyone that specializes in rehabilitating dogs properly, I would want him to go in that direction. If he needs to be put down, I will only have it done with me, so please do not inquire about my dog if you even have the slightest doubt in your ability to care for and provide what he needs. Understand he is my everything and I will do whatever I need to do to secure his safety (Less)
