Rescue Me ID: 16-12-08-00222Kiki (female)

American Staffordshire Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Kiki is a 7YO American Staffordshire, spayed, fully vaccinated and in perfect health. Kiki belonged to an elderly woman who moved into an assisted living community and was devastated to leave Kiki behind. Kiki led a much-loved, but sheltered life and is learning new skills in foster care. She crates very well, is never destructive when loose in the house, LOVES to go on long walks and explore in the yard, and has a keen appetite. Kiki needs a feline-free home, and would do best as an 'only child. The ideal owner for Kiki is someone with a large, securely fenced yard who has no other pets, and kids for her to play with. Someone with Power ... (Read More)Breed experience who will not expect Kiki to be a social butterfly, but is content to let Kiki run wild circles in the yard, play ball, and claim the couch. Someone who is willing to let her enjoy the next half of her life basking in love and safety. Kiki will respond in kind with her gentle kisses, contagious joy, meticulous house manners, a lovely and strong sense of self, and her willingness to learn. She does not 'cling' to her owner continuously and although loves and seeks out attention, is also sometimes content to be more independent. Kiki loves treats and she'll play ball, but don't expect her to bring it back to you every time. This is a courtesy posting. Please contact Kristi at 406-381-3325 to meet Kiki. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-09-00445Lucie (female)

American Staffordshire Terrier    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

The most heartbreaking thing I've ever had to do is create this posting. I was given Lucie as a puppy and she has been my best friend and solid companion for over ten years. She is the most obedient, kind hearted affectionate, silly dog I have ever been around. Unfortunately, she is fear aggressive towards other dogs. There has never been an incident with significant injuries but I have had to be vigilant that she is on leash around all dogs at all times. Lucie is in trouble after she was startled by the neighbors dog barking thru a hole in the fence and began fighting. Both dogs were brought to the vet and had only superficial ... (Read More)injuries. Now my neighbors and landlord are demanding that I have her destroyed, in spite of the fact that animal control deemed her safe after investigating the report. She was raised with bunnies kitties chickens and ducks and is gentle and sweet to them. She is a friend and protector of children, however, as with any dog, she should be supervised with them. Her favorite things are 1. affection and snuggles !!!! 2.long hikes in the mountains (we are used to going for hikes up the local hill almost everyday, even at her age. I'm only able to keep up with her now that she's getting on in years. As a special note on this, she is a master huckleberry and morel finder 3. warmth from the sunshine in the yard, a heater vent, or on special days her blankets fresh from the dryer 4. swimming in the river or lake for endless hours in the summer, she will happily tow her friends around your favorite swimming hole 5. hide and seek with toys and sticks in the woods or at home Neighbors have commented for years about how they've never heard her barking, tho she makes the silliest talking noises when she is lovingly eating her dinner. She's 11, but just had an aging dog checkup with full blood work and other than achy knees, is in perfect health. We are desperately hoping someone can help us not need to put her down. (Less)

Kiki is a beautiful and lively girl who needs a home to call her own. She's been in foster care for over a year and would love a chance to prove what a great companion she can be. She's okay with non-dominant dogs, even little breeds, but would likely do best as an only child. She definitely is not fond of cats. She has meticulous house manners and loves to zoom around the yard and tear up toys. She is spotted with a million freckles and is strong and muscular. Although she treasures her outdoor time, she's a California girl at heart and likes to be inside. Please call Kristi at 406-381-3325 to learn more!
