American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Needs Vaccinations

Stryker is a very loving dog. He has been in my family since he was a puppy. Unfortunately my family is growing and I can no longer give him the attention he deserves. He deserves a family that can entertain him and enjoy his loving qualities. He is great with children and people, especially males. He would be great for someone who can take him for long walks and/or day trips for a hike or someone who has backyard where he can be free. Its saddening to me that he has to find a new home but exciting for him if he can find the right fit. I guarantee he will be loved as soon as you meet him. American Staffordshire Terrier    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Came in as part of a rescue w/the OC Sheriff's Dept. Owners were arrested on open bench warrants and Holly was found in back yard emaciated and in and shape. From day one she loved people. We were shocked. She was truly thankful to have been found. She went from 44 lbs. to about 80 plus lbs. She's a best friend to me. She needs to be an only dog and with an very experienced owner. Anyone interested must contact shelter at 845-294-3984. She was very overbred:( and used as a fighter, so we believe that's why she trusted people. For lots more information contact shelter. This is one incredible dog for the right person. Good w/adults ... (Read More)but kids must be older - we do NOT recommend young children because of Holly's size and she can't be exposed to other families w/young children and the possibility of other animals. (Drop box did not explain enough.) We truly love her at Goshen Humane Society!! If there is someone like Grizzly Adams out there - Holly is waiting for you!! (Less)

Animal ID: Courtesy postLila (female)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Lila spent OVER TWO LONG YEARS in a city shelter . We rescued her in June from the Yonkers Animal Shelter- she was one of their longest residents. Thanks to The Tiny Tim Rescue Fund she went to our good friends at Allied Dog Training. Lila greets EVERYONE as if she is your long lost best friend. Why are we just posting her for adoption at the end of September and now mid October? We believe in completely vetting all of our dogs prior to adoption. Lila had a 'screaming' inflamed kidney that was most likely the result of MULTIPLE untreated urinary tract infections at the shelter. How painful and sad for this poor girl. She has undergone ... (Read More)various tests including a sonogram and she had a wagging tail and happily kissed everyone who came to attend to her medical needs. The end result is that because of the vetting we do her kidney disease is EXTREMELY EARLY Stage 1. Her liver function is normal. Lila is now enrolled in our Medical for Life program. Lila is currently on a special Raw Diet catered towards kidney disease. A diet of Raw is preferable but a high quality canned diet is okay too. Kibble should be avoided at all times. Now that we understand her condition and have done every test recommended by our awesome Dr. Julie and staff from the Visiting Veterinary Practice of Westchester we are actively looking for a forever home or foster for this AMAZING girl! Lila is a petite pittie mix and weighs about 45 pounds. She is housebroken, spayed, UTD on shots and micro chipped. She is 3 years old and spent 2 of those years in a city shelter. She LOVES and GREETS EVERYONE she meets with an abundance of kisses and happiness. That is a true testament to her character and personality. Despite growing up in a city shelter and being sick and untreated she is a happy loving girl. Lila would do best in a home with no small dogs or cats. Meet and greet required for dogs her size or bigger. She has been around children as young as 2 years old and is loving and respectful. She has no food or toy resource guarding issues. She could easily be an agility dog . Lila is located in Dutchess County NY. Adopters will receive lifetime support from our good friends at Allied Dog Training. She is fully trained in on and off leash obedience and adopters will receive handling lessons. Online applications www.townandcountryk9resq.com under contact us. Questions? American Staffordshire Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Seizures

[Read About Natural Seizure Care] Frankie bio Frankie is a 6 years old American PitBull Terrier. My husband and I have had him since he was 7 months old when we got him from a family friend in Maryland whose doggie had puppies. Frankie is house trained, neutered, and up to date on all his vaccinations. He spends most of his time these days sunbathing in our 3rd story walk-up. He's a healthy eater and enjoys licking peanut butter from his chew toy bones. Frankie is great around kids as we have a toddler and infant. The last six months have been a little tough for Frankie. We discovered that after suffering from a seizure in November 2016, Frankie has epilepsy. He is ... (Read More)takes medication twice a day with each feeding that has kept his seizures at bay. Other than weakness in his hind legs from time to time due to the medication, Frankie is a fun loving and sweet pit bull. He recently had blood work done and is doing great! Since being on his medication regime, he has been seizure free and continues to get an A+ during his routine check-ups! (Less)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Buffalo Bill is probably the most aptly-named dog we have had in awhile. He does closely resemble a buffalo from the neck up, and the rest of him is pure Collie. This dog is one of the smartest and loyal dogs around and is determined to prove that to his people with every command he masters. While Buffalo does closely resemble Ron Swanson, this guy is usually a lot more playful and fun than his doppelganger. Buffalo Bill is a clever dog and he would excel at any obedience classes his family enrolled him in. Our vision of Buffalo Bill in a home is him by his family's side through every adventure, probably frowning but enjoying every minute! ... American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Benson is a 5 year old pit bull mix who has been in and out of the shelter system since 2013. He's energetic, playful and loves toys. He loves playing in the snow and he loves swimming and he would be the ultimate outdoor activity partner for someone. Benson can live possibly with a dog over 30 pounds. He needs a slow intro but once he's confortable he gets very playful and can even be submissive. Benson needs a home with someone who is experienced with large, strong dogs. We are currently working with Benson's advocate to fine him a home. Please email GETABULLRESCUE@GMAIL.COM if you are interested and we will put you in touch.

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Senior

Oh Carl! Carl is a senior dog, 13 years old, that we literally rescued from a heavy chain where he lived since he was 10. Carl at one point was more of an inside guy and since we took him in he has slowly adjusted to couch life and that's the life he loves!! We have vetted Carl, neutered him, and he's looking for a retirement home. He loves to run (yes run!!) and play and he's younger than his years. He's undersocialized with animals and would prefer to be your one and only in a home with kids 12+ He is located in foster care in CT. American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

His name is Ryder. He was found this way abandoned No water, food, or tags, just a gaping wound on his face, and yet he wags his tail and is as happy as can be. We don't know how long he has been this way but this wound is not new. The vets who are taking care of him tell us he was probably used as a bait dog based on his injuries. They cleaned him up and made sure he is not in pain. We made sure he was vaccinated and tested for any other illnesses. We did find out that not only does he have this painful injury, he was heartworm positive. A treatment which in and of itself is painful. The vets are optimistic that he will respond well to ... (Read More)treatment since they estimate him to be about two years old. In the meantime, his foster mom will be making sure he has everything he needs and give him the love and security he seems to never have known. He has suffered greatly at the hands of humans and Ryder has a long road ahead of him. Please consider donating to his care, we anticipate he will need to have additional surgery and pain meds to help him heal. We are dedicated to making sure that he receives the care he needs to heal his body, and the love he needs to heal his heart.     Poor Hazel. She is a story we see too often in the rescue business. Hazel is a 2 year old terrier mix. Hazel was abandoned with her puppy Hudson in the area. Hudson was adopted, as puppies are quickly, and poor perfect momma Hazel remains at the shelter. Hazel is loving and affectionate when she becomes comfortable. When she first came to the shelter she was scared and shy but, with time Hazel has opened up and loves to give kisses and snuggle. Hazel would do well in a family as an only pet with older children, teens and up. Do you see it in your heart to give Hazel a happy life like her pup Hudson, she's waiting.

Rescue Me ID: 17-03-21-00056Mhysa (female)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mhysa is an incredible dog that has lived a difficult life. When we met her she was a guard dog for a drug house, and her owner no longer had any use for her because he was selling the property. He planned to dispose of her either by cutting her free or worse so we stepped in to get her to safety. You can read more details about her rescue story here: https://www.waywardranch.org/mhysa-the-usd1000-dog When we got Mhysa what we expected was a dog that would be far too aggressive to be rehomed, because that is how her owner described her, but we were hesitantly hopeful that we could help her. We were shocked when after only one day with us ... (Read More)Mhysa seemed like a dog that had absolutely no problems. She loved us, walked calmly past other dogs, and was incredibly smart! We were even more shocked to learn this sweet girl was very young, and is only about one year old! Mhysa is understandably nervous around new people due to her past, but she has gone through a great deal of training and is thriving. It now takes her just a few minutes to be comfortable with a new person, as long as they go slow with her. Once she bonds and opens up you'll be able to see how goofy this girl is! Her favorite things are belly rubs, squeaky bee toys, and meatball dog treats! She loves going for car rides and is completely housebroken. She walks well on leash and loves to go for walks. In public places like pet stores she is still nervous and can get shut down, but in the woods she is truly in her element and would make a fantastic hiking partner! Mhysa can't wait to have a home, for the first time in her life. Please give her a chance to wiggle into your heart! We ask that all families interested in her commit to meeting her several times, both to form a bond with her and to learn the training she knows to help her be the best dog she can be in her new home and life! American Staffordshire Terrier    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Champ is a great dog, but needs an experienced owner. He is a high energy dog, so needs a high energy owner. Champ LOVES car rides and often loves to have a nap in the car, loves going for walks and loves being with people. Remember he is high energy, but with the right person it's not a bad thing. He came to us when he was about 1 year. Originally found as a puppy he lived with a young girl who was about 19 and kept him crated most of the time. Not neutered or vaccinated, Champ was a handful. However considering he was crated out of convenience Champ was a product of his environment. Champ needs someone who is committed to training ... (Read More)but someone who is an alpha. Champ was fortunate to be seen by Packleaders (one of the trainers that works with Ceasar Milan) and he said that Champ is a great dog, but that his adopter must be an alpha - period. He needs to be focused. Champ might be better off as the only dog. Champ has so much to offer the right person and he is a very, very smart dog. He knows who is committed to him and who isn't. If you are looking for a sweet boy, with a goofy personality who would love walks (hikes,) long car rides Champ is a great dog, BUT he needs to know his adopter will make the time commitment. If you are interested in CHAMP, please go to www.petestablished.com and fill out our online application. If you have any questions please email at goshenhumanesociety@gmail.com. (Less)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant

Dallas is a 1 1/2 year old male pit bull mix who was surrendered to the shelter because his owner could no longer keep him. Dallas is dog selective and its unknown how he does with cats at this time. He can have spurts of energy so thats why he'll need to be in a home with kids 10 and older. Dallas will also need more obedience training going forward. For all of his energy though,he's a very docile young man....
