Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Luna is an incredible dog who has been through a lot in her short life. After a life of unknown abuse/neglect, she ended up at the Yonkers Animal Shelter, where she was terrified. After a short stay there, she was adopted by a wonderful couple who gave her love, structure and a safe space to decompress. After many months of working with Luna, her adoptive family have decided to find her a new family that would be better suited for her, possibly with a single person or two people who can be equally involved in her daily care. Because Luna has been through a lot, it takes her a few moments to bond to a new person. Treats and a calm and kind ... (Read More)energy definitely help! She has gone through extensive training, and her new adopters will be given free handling lessons for life so they can learn all of her training and the best way to use it in everyday situations. Luna is an adorable little snorty girl who just wants love and consistency in her life. When she bonds to someone it is for life, and she will be their loyal friend, confidant and defender without question. If you are interested in meeting Luna and seeing if you would be a good fit for her, please fill out an adoption application online at www.waywardranch.org and we will contact you to set up a meet and greet. While waiting to find a new home, her current owners will continue to provide her with a temporary home and plenty of love so meet and greets must be scheduled in advance. (Less)

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Malnourished

Nana and her siblings were being recklessly sold on Craigslist in an area known for dog fighting. We just got them, and when we saw how skinny they were it broke our hearts! According to man selling them, they are about 10 weeks old, but they are the size of a 4 week old puppy of their breed. They are one of the worst cases of neglect we have ever seen, and yet, all three are still so incredibly loving and trusting of humans! These puppies will not be ready for adoption until August 16th, but we are accepting applications for them now.

Bluestreak fka Blue Cheese is an ACC Survivor pulled from death row now being surrendered by no fault of her own. Bluestreak is a wonderful adult female pitbull, approximately 3 years old. She is sweet and gentle and highly devoted to her people, knows the commands sit, wait, (lay) down, on me (a come with me command), leave it, and drop it. She has been wonderful to our 2 young children.but she is timid with strangers and takes time to warm up. She does not do well with small dogs. Larger dogs and cats she can be selective. Although she has lived in a home with a resident cat for over a year, she was provoked by another cat, which has now ... Rescue Me ID: 17-07-21-00181Ryder (male)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected

His name is Ryder. He was found this way abandoned No water, food, or tags, just a gaping wound on his face, and yet he wags his tail and is as happy as can be. We don't know how long he has been this way but this wound is not new. The vets who are taking care of him tell us he was probably used as a bait dog based on his injuries. They cleaned him up and made sure he is not in pain. We made sure he was vaccinated and tested for any other illnesses. We did find out that not only does he have this painful injury, he was heartworm positive. A treatment which in and of itself is painful. The vets are optimistic that he will respond well to ... (Read More)treatment since they estimate him to be about two years old. In the meantime, his foster mom will be making sure he has everything he needs and give him the love and security he seems to never have known. He has suffered greatly at the hands of humans and Ryder has a long road ahead of him. Please consider donating to his care, we anticipate he will need to have additional surgery and pain meds to help him heal. We are dedicated to making sure that he receives the care he needs to heal his body, and the love he needs to heal his heart.     Spencer is such a great dog, he's loving and cuddly. He is between 5 and 6 yrs old. He is leash trained, no food aggression, and also house trained. Playful yet also loves relaxing in the sun. Thinks he's just one of the guys! He is jealous tho and would do best as a single dog in a child free house, as he is not great with all the hyperness of young children /or small dogs. Does fine with cats often tries to befriend them. Please help in finding Spencer a loving forever home.

Hudson was adopted, as puppies are quickly, and poor perfect momma Hazel remains at the shelter. Hazel is loving and affectionate when she becomes comfortable. When she first came to the shelter she was scared and shy but, with time Hazel has opened up and loves to give kisses and snuggle. Hazel would do well in a family as an only pet with older children, teens and up. Do you see it in your heart to give Hazel a happy life like her pup Hudson, she's waiting.

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Mhysa is an incredible dog that has lived a difficult life. When we met her she was a guard dog for a drug house, and her owner no longer had any use for her because he was selling the property. He planned to dispose of her either by cutting her free or worse so we stepped in to get her to safety. You can read more details about her rescue story here: https://www.waywardranch.org/mhysa-the-usd1000-dog When we got Mhysa what we expected was a dog that would be far too aggressive to be rehomed, because that is how her owner described her, but we were hesitantly hopeful that we could help her. We were shocked when after only one day with us ... (Read More)Mhysa seemed like a dog that had absolutely no problems. She loved us, walked calmly past other dogs, and was incredibly smart! We were even more shocked to learn this sweet girl was very young, and is only about one year old! Mhysa is understandably nervous around new people due to her past, but she has gone through a great deal of training and is thriving. It now takes her just a few minutes to be comfortable with a new person, as long as they go slow with her. Once she bonds and opens up you'll be able to see how goofy this girl is! Her favorite things are belly rubs, squeaky bee toys, and meatball dog treats! She loves going for car rides and is completely housebroken. She walks well on leash and loves to go for walks. In public places like pet stores she is still nervous and can get shut down, but in the woods she is truly in her element and would make a fantastic hiking partner! Mhysa can't wait to have a home, for the first time in her life. Please give her a chance to wiggle into your heart! We ask that all families interested in her commit to meeting her several times, both to form a bond with her and to learn the training she knows to help her be the best dog she can be in her new home and life! Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Fearful/Anxious

Champ is a great dog, but needs an experienced owner. He was recently adopted but was returned. Without going into it he was given up on after only a day or two. Champ loves car rides, going for walks and loves being with people. He is high energy. He came to us when he was about 1 year. Originally found as a puppy he lived with a young girl who was about 19 and kept him crated most of the time. Not neutered or vaccinated, Champ was a handful. However considering he was crated out of convenience Champ was a product of his environment. Champ needs someone who is committed to training but someone who is an alpha. Champ was fortunate ... (Read More)to be seen by Packleaders (one of the trainers that works with Ceasar Milan) and he said that Champ is a great dog, but that his adopter must be an alpha - period. He needs to be focused. The family that recently adopted him spent time with him at the shelter and I had my doubts, but they were insistent. Champ has so much to offer the right person and he is a very, very smart dog. He knows who is committed and who isn't. If you are looking for a sweet boy, with a goofy personality who would love walks (hikes,) long car rides Champ is a great dog, BUT he needs to know his adopter will make the time commitment. If you are interested in CHAMP, please go to www.petestablished.com and fill out our online application. If you have any questions please email at goshenhumanesociety@gmail.com. (Less)
