Or email citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us If you have questions or would like to meet the dog featured on this page, please call (216) 664-3476 to speak to an adoption representative at CITY DOGS Cleveland. Or email citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us About Our Shelter... CITY DOGS Cleveland is a program of Cleveland Animal Care & Control (CACC), ... (Read More)located at 2690 W. 7th St. Cleveland, OH 44113. Public hours are Monday through Saturday from 10am-3pm, and Sunday 12-2pm. The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bulls who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be. Our Adoption Process... Here's a little about how things work: All of the CITY DOGS posted for adoption are available for direct adoption from the kennel, unless noted otherwise. A handful of dogs are only available for rescue pull, which can be for a variety of reasons. You can either stop in during our open hours to meet a dog, or set up a meet and greet with your dog, which allows us to get the dog out of his/her cage for some exercise before you arrive. To set up a meet and greet, please email us at citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us. About Our Dogs: All available dogs have been assessed. This assessment is a snapshot of who the dog is at that given time. Our dogs are strays and we cannot make any guarantees with regard to behavior, temperament or health of any City Dog. We do not know what kind of home environment they were living in (i.e. with kids, other dogs or other cats), nor do we know if they are house trained. Everything we know about them is based on volunteer and staff observations. It is very hard to tell with certainty whether or not a dog will be good with kids, cats or another dog. If you have kids in the home or another dog, we do require that they be present for a meet and greet with the dog you are considering for adoption. Health/Vaccinations: Dogs that are adopted directly from the kennel need to go to your personal vet within a week or so of leaving the kennel. They do have their DHPP, Rabies and Bordetella vaccinations, are dewormed once and have a microchip. In addition, unfortunately many of the dogs do get kennel cough. This is not something that is contagious to people at all, but dogs that do have it will need to be on an antibiotic. (Less)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Very High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Neutered

Scrappy needs a forever home. He is amazingly sweet, craves love and attention, and is wonderful with children. His previous home had 3 other dogs and they got along just fine which makes me believe he can be introduced to other dogs but has a hard time adapting by being thrown in blindly with others. He is not so good with cats. Scrappy was never given proper etiquette lessons so he does not understand things like not jumping up when he greets you (which is really rather annoying.) He doesnt understand basic commands like sit, lay or stay as his original owner took no responsibility to teach him or have him taught. Scrappy needs a home ... American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Rescue fav, Vita Lotus 2 year old staffie girl, absolutely horrible prior life-rescued from a high kill shelter as a skeleton, tail hanging by two small ligaments, who had pretty much given up on life. Look at her now!! Fully vetted-spayed, perfect body weight, fully vaccinated, on all preventatives. LOVES meal time, chewies and treats. Extremely active and pretty high energy. Would need a high fenced or privacy fenced yard for her. That is a must. Initially shy meeting new people. After very little time, she is a total love bug. She is petite, about 44 lbs, good on a leash, house broken, crate trained, loves car rides,. Dog friendly with ... (Read More)the dogs she lives with but needs a slow and patient introduction to new dogs.NO first day, forced meetings for her. Sometimes plays a little rough so current dogs need to be dominant with her because she will submit. Ideally, she would be adopted in an only pet home at this time. She'd be a little much for young children so looking for a single, couple or family with older kids, active so she gets the exercise and playtime she needs. She is very special to this rescue and will only go to the absolute best home we can find for her. (Less)

Animal ID: BellaBella (female)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Cats
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Bella is 5 old American staffordshire terrier, who has the sweetest eyes that you could just look at for days. When she gets really excited she actually snorts like a pig and smiles. Her favorite activities include snoring in her sleep, cuddling, eating and being with her humans. Bella has had a rough year due to no fault of her own. She was given up in North Carolina because the neighbors decided they could use breed discrimination to their advantage... The nerve of them! She was then placed in a foster home down south with 3 other dogs who she soon learned to love. Bella likes other dogs but must have a very slow introduction with an ... (Read More)experienced handler. She would do best in a home either alone or with dogs that are larger than her. Bella is not a fan of kitty cats. She likes older kids and would love nothing more than to get belly rubs and give kisses to them all day. After being brought up from the south by Adopt a Pit, to undergo her heartworm treatment and get her all fixed up, we are happy to report that she is now ready for her Furever home, apply at adoptapitrescue.org under the application tab. Bella is vaccinated, microchipped, spayed, and on heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $175. (Less)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Most Cats
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi my name is Midna. In October of 2016 at age 1%BD my current Mom rescued me with all my baggage. She has worked diligently with me and has made great strides. I am an extremely intelligent girl and a great sleeping buddy. If you are familiar with the breed, most of us do not grow out of the 'puppy stage' until around the age of six. I am still full of a lot of energy. At my Mom's stage in life, she is more suited to the mature dog that is content to lie around. She has done her best to apply the 'tired dog is a happy dog' but she wears out long before I do. She has offered a lot to enrich my life to this point and she believes it is not ... (Read More)fair to me for her to continue as my caregiver. This is not a knee-jerk decision and is extremely heart wrenching for her. I am in need of a person who is physically stronger, lives a more active life and is capable of maintaining and continuing my training. I need someone new who is able to give me a loving and structure environment. I am spayed, micro-chipped, licensed, and current on vaccines. Midna's Mom here. I will be transparent and honest with anyone interested in her and expect them to be the same with me. I will do a home check. Adoption application required before re-homing. I will transport within a reasonable distance. Contact 614.441.3820. (Less)
