Rescue Me ID: 17-07-05-00454Walther (male)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Female Dogs Only, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Children in home must be 8 years or older Greetings, my name is Walther and I am quite handsome and an all-around fun guy. I am a 2-year old neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier and Samoyed - how is that for a special mix? I am a dominant male with other boy dogs so other male dogs in my new home would be a no-go. However, I seem to be very good with female dogs and love to play. I cannot live with any felines, though. I get way too fixated and aggressive with them so it would not be any fun for the cat. Children in my new home must be 8 years or older because I get mouthy when I am excited and could knock over small kids. I am about ... (Read More)43 pounds and quite the bundle of energy. I am OK with handling but since I think it is a game I get excited and become mouthy so you need to remind me of proper behavior with a 'yelp'. I have phenomenal manners with my food bowl. I am not too interested in things like raw hides but I think stuffed toys are awesome. I get a little nutty and like to flip them all over the place and shake, shake, shake it. Even though I think toys are magnificent, I have no problem sharing them with you; I will even drop it on command for you. I take treats gently and would love to show you that when you ask me to sit. I love affection and attention - I am a people-pup. I am intelligent, clownish and friendly; just a fun and silly guy who loves to celebrate life. All this personality and gorgeous looks, too. Come to WCHS in Slinger, WI and meet me in person. (Less)

American Staffordshire Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Josie is looking for her forever home! She found as a stray in a very dangerous area in Southern California. She was wearing a special harness that made shelter volunteers believe that she was a therapy dog. She has been in a foster home with other male dogs and one female, but she does best with slow introductions. She's a bit anxious in new situations. She would do best with a male dog or as the queen of her very own household with no other pets. She has met respectful children, but hasn't spent much time with them.

Meet Timber. American Staffordshire Terrier. Male, 3-4 years old (as of April 2016). Medium sized dog at roughly 50lbs. on intake. Timber is the product of dog fighting. Gregory's Gift of Hope was called to help when Timber was found by a local resident wandering in their yard. One look at Timber and we knew we had to help. Timber, covered in scars, was very under-weight and had visible signs of pain and discomfort when walking due to bone injuries that were not treated properly. Timber suffered greatly at the hands of some pretty despicable humans - we could not let this sweet dog live the rest of his life knowing only pain and ... (Read More)suffering. Even with all of his injuries and with all of the mistreatment he has endured, he remains the sweetest dog and will shower you with kisses and tail wags when you greet him. How could we say no to this - we couldn't! Timber has been receiving the proper care and is doing well while waiting for that special someone to cross his path and call him their own. He is one pretty amazing dog! Sharing some further information about Timber, coming from our Director here at GGOH. Timber was a bait dog and that certainly has some extra precautions that come with it when adopting, or considering adopting him. Don't get us wrong, he is a wonderful dog but his background cannot be forgotten. And please, it is a MUST that Timber go to a home with fencing. I know this additional information may turn some of you away but for Timber's sake, we must share this info. so that he can find is perfect, forever home. From our Director at GGOH - January 2017: We need people to understand the ramifications of him being a bait dog. He needs a fence, he needs limited chaos. He needs mostly if we can make it happen, to be an only dog who has a fence and yes he most likey can get along with others under great supervision and a great guardian who learns him well. He is going to, if dogs charge him, possibly react in a non-friendly manner. He has been removed from that environment but like a person, there is PTSD so people have to be aware and be prepared to be his eyes nose ears and calming factor. Almost a seeing eye person or a 'Therapy' person if you will. You, the owner, will need to calm him, to make sure environments are acceptable, to remove him when necessary and understand things can be scary sometimes for him. He does not want to react, he aims to please so we must focus on his positive attributes. He is friendly as ever with people even after humans are the ones who put him in the position of being hurt, he loves just chilling with you in the sun. He likes to play ball and tug-o-war, he is a cuddler and also can be very playful and even get over excited so you must be able to balance your play with him. He is great with kids but knowing all the other things about him, the potential for issues is there if the kids get out of hand around him without really meaning to or thinking about it. There are so many things we do not know about him so even though he is a great dog he must be handled with caution in the beginning stages of entering a family home. It is extremely important that whoever adopts him really follows this not just agrees and because he might be doing great they skip right to complete trust. It's a hard case but there is someone out there for him. BEFORE CONTACTING US REGARDING TIMBER, PLEASE REVIEW OUR ADOPTION POLICIES AND PROCEDURES. www.ggohinc.com (Less)
