Staffordshire Terriers are friendly and great with kids. A Staffordshire Terrier is obedient and very eager to please. A Staffordshire Terrier makes an excellent guard dog while still being exceptionally gentle towards children. A tendency of the American Staffordshire Terrier to be aggressive toward other dogs can be minimized through effective socialization early in life. Staffordshire Terriers can live in an apartment if they get enough exercise. They are not fond of cold climates.

The American Staffordshire Terrier has been bred carefully for fifty years to be especially well suited to families with children.
